Job title: Data Engineer
Location: Miami
Type: Hybrid
Duration: 6 months
The Data Engineer is responsible for structuring, organizing, and analyzing casino specific and other related data to support effective analysis and enable data-driven decision making across the global casino team. This position will advise and guide end users on the best tools to use to conduct analyses, data interpretation, and best practices for complete end to end builds. The individual will act as a key liaison between Analytics and various teams to ensure they have their data needs met.
Functions:
- Transform raw data from various sources into flat easy to use curated datasets to be used by the various areas within Global Casino Operations.
- Take ownership of existing SQL jobs, processes, and datasets to ensure they are optimized and up to date using industry best practices.
- Provide data support to the various teams and embedded analysts and interface with strategic customers when required.
- Monitor back of house SQL processes to ensure objects are refreshed correctly and within the expected time frame.
Spearhead the creation of effective tools, reports & dashboards for operators to monitor their business. - Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Higher education in Data Engineering or related.
- One to three years of database experience or equivalent combination of education & experience.
- Strong Programming Skills (SQL, Python/Java).
- Expertise in relational databases, stored procedures, functions, jobs, etc. Strong software skills a must, especially with complex query writing and analytical/aggregate function. Familiarity with Apex & Tableau, a plus.
- Prepared to work hands on with analysis efforts in addition to managing analytical projects. Strong analytical & problem-solving skills. Skilled in research, audit & problem solving. Strong attention to detail, with a high degree of accuracy in work product.
- Effective communicator in framing and presenting a concept or hypotheses. Self-motivated with ability to work independently. Ability to manage time effectively, set priorities and meet deadlines. Ability to learn and adapt to change.
- Lead by example by ‘respecting and protecting’ the health and safety of yourself and others.
- Ensure your team and colleagues speak up report all accidents, ‘near miss’ incidents and work related ill health conditions
- Help your team follow HESS rules and procedures by promoting the HESS Golden Rules
- Attend HESS training & conduct risk assessments where required.
- Demonstrate HESS leadership in accordance with our Heroes of Safe & Well program.
The pay for this position is $45 an hour, paid every Friday.
