As we continue to expand, we’re seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Government Contract Specialist to join our team.

Position Overview:
The Government Contract Specialist will play a key role in managing and developing Continental Steel’s federal, state, and local government contracting opportunities. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of government contracts—from proposal development to contract compliance—ensuring all requirements and regulations are met efficiently and accurately.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research, identify, and pursue new government contract opportunities, including through SAM.gov and other relevant portals.
  • Prepare and submit bids, proposals, and responses to RFQs/RFPs in accordance with FAR/DFARS guidelines.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable government regulations and company policies.
  • Serve as the liaison between Continental Steel and contracting officers, prime contractors, and government agencies.
  • Review and negotiate terms and conditions of contracts and modifications.
  • Track contract deliverables, deadlines, and performance requirements.
  • Coordinate with internal departments (sales, logistics, compliance, legal, finance) to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of government orders.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of all contracts, amendments, and correspondence.
  • Monitor changes in government procurement regulations and provide timely updates and training to internal stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in government contracting, preferably within a manufacturing, industrial, or distribution environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and federal acquisition processes.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and government procurement platforms (e.g., SAM.gov, FedBid/Unison, DIBBS).
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of the metals industry is a plus, but not required.
