  • Establish and enforce rigorous engineering processes, including design reviews, risk management, and change control.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless integration of hardware and software systems.
  • Align engineering functional strategy to overall business strategy.
  • Manage engineering capital expenditures.

Innovation & R&D

  • Work closely and collaboratively with the Director of Technology and Innovation to drive continuous innovation in technologies, keeping the company at the forefront of industry advancements.
  • Ensure the success of research and development of new hardware solutions through engagement and review of projects.
  • Review and provide input to the development of prototypes and proof-of-concept systems to demonstrate technological feasibility.

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers, ensuring strong relationships and understanding their communication requirements.
  • Present technical solutions and project updates to customers, stakeholders, and executive leadership.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables meet or exceed customer expectations and compliance standards.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure all engineering work complies with relevant aerospace and defense standards (e.g., MIL-STD, ISO, DO-254).
  • Work closely with quality functions to monitor quality assurance practices, implementing corrective actions when necessary to maintain product excellence.

Experience:

  • 15+ years of experience in engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing engineering teams in aerospace, defense, or related industries.
  • Proven experience in communications hardware development, specifically in designing systems for aerospace, military, or defense applications in communications missions.
  • Extensive experience in hardware system integration, design, and testing, including RF and signal processing in multi-domain applications.
  • Strong track record of successful project management, from concept to completion, ensuring projects meet technical, financial, and schedule goals.
  • Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams and collaborating with customers and stakeholders in high-stakes, regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with DO-160, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, and other relevant industry standards and certifications.

Key Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of communication hardware systems, RF systems, and signal processing.
  • Experience with system-level design, testing, integration, and validation of complex hardware platforms.
  • Familiarity with high-frequency circuit design, PCB layout, and hardware simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, LTSpice).
  • Expertise in managing full product lifecycle from concept through production and deployment.
  • Exceptional leadership, mentorship, and team-building skills.
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities in high-pressure environments.
  • Expertise in project planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Ability to manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and quality standards.
  • Experience with Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid project management methodologies.
