Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Research and Development engineering team to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Implement strategic plans for research and development projects while keeping in alignment with company objectives.
  • Identify emerging technologies and trends relevant to the pump and heavy equipment industry and recommend innovations.
  • Oversee the design, development, and testing of diesel-engine-powered systems and heavy equipment.
  • Perform and review FEA to optimize designs for performance, durability, and manufacturability.
  • Ensure adherence to and management of engineering change request (ECR) processes.
  • Lead and manage engineering change requests and subsequent engineering change orders.
  • Manage product data through SolidWorks PDM.
  • Allocate resources effectively to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and teamwork within the R&D department.
  • Evaluate the feasibility and potential impact of new ideas, products, and technologies.
  • Ensure all designs and products are compliant with regulatory requirements and industry standards (DOT, EPA, CPB, HI, etc.).
  • Provide mentorship, training, and performance evaluations for engineering team members.
  • Assist and assure all testing standards and equipment are in accordance with relevant ISO and Hydraulic Institute procedures.
  • Support manufacturing and service teams by providing engineering expertise for troubleshooting and product enhancements.
  • Assist in the training of other factory personnel on newly introduced products.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in product design, R&D, or engineering management, preferably in the pump or heavy equipment industry.
  • Experience with diesel engines, FEA, and heavy equipment design.
