Job Description
Join one of the world's largest Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) developers as a Commissioning Manager Analytics. This role involves conducting plant testing, performance testing, ISO/GIA/PPA testing, and startup of Battery Energy Storage and Solar Coupled Power Systems. The Commissioning Manager will act as the Owner's Representative, overseeing various aspects of the energy storage system, including compliance, status reporting, safety, startup, commissioning, and testing. This role requires managing and reporting on commissioning and performance testing performed by contractors and vendors at the project site.
Preferred Background
- Engineering or professional electrical background in power systems construction and startup.
- Experience with a minimum of 100MW-hr energy storage systems or 5+ energy storage system commissioning projects.
- Strong BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) background is required.
- Experience with SCADA is preferred.
Required Skills
- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS): Installation and startup.
- Technical Expertise: Thorough understanding of Li-Ion battery technology, performance, and integration into ESS.
- Commissioning Process Development: Ability to create commissioning workflows and strategies.
- Power Systems Knowledge:
- Containerized systems, skids, controllers/SCADA, transformers, combiners.
- DC systems (0-2,000Vdc) and AC systems (480V-34.5kV).
- SCADA & Controls: Experience with SCADA systems, troubleshooting, and integration.
- Project & Organizational Skills:
- Strong scheduling and planning abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication with third parties and executives.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in safety programs and audits.
- Support PPA, GIA, and ISO testing.
- Manage test energy forecasts with the customer.
- Collaborate with the SCADA Team, SCADA PM/Lead, and Integrator to perform functional checks and develop commissioning schedules.
- Execute site acceptance testing and support critical point checkouts with ROCC alarm checks/PGD.
- Perform OEM testing, plant balancing, capacity testing, and notification of AVR/AGC.
- Review performance data to identify and address deficiencies.
