We have different levels of Maintenance Worker. Maintenance Worker I is 0-3 years of experience, Maintenance Worker II is 4-6 years of experience. Maintenance Worker III is 7 + years.

TITLE: Maintenance Worker I

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent
  2. Experience: 0-3 years experience
  3. General knowledge of tools, equipment, and maintenance/repair
  4. Basic mathematical skills including calculating figures and amounts and units of measure
  5. Effective communication skills with a variety of people
  6. Desire to continue career improvement

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-Time (unless otherwise stated); 12 month (250 day contract); 90 day probationary period; successful completion of State and Federal Background check is required.

REPORTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Worker I is responsible for the maintenance, service, and repair of school buildings, equipment, and grounds. The duties of the Maintenance Worker I are completed under the close supervision of more senior staff and/or a supervisor and may vary throughout each shift.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Performs a variety of maintenance activities (carpentry, painting, general repairs) within designated project scopes and timeframes.
  • Assists more senior maintenance workers with projects for the purpose of completing projects in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Assists with written documentation (maintenance logs, repair status, etc.) to ensure accurate record keeping.
  • Assembles/builds various items including, but not limited to furniture, carts, shelves, etc.
  • Cleans gutters, downspouts, and other drain structures to prevent damage and ensure proper functionality.
  • Performs basic plumbing repairs/maintenance such as snaking drains and unclogging toilets.
  • May be asked to work inside or outside in varying climate conditions.
  • Reports signs of damage, vandalism, or any unsafe condition to appropriate staff/leaders.
  • All other duties as assigned.

  1. High school diploma or equivalent
  2. Experience: 4-6 years experience
  3. Intermediate knowledge of tools, equipment, and maintenance/repair
  4. Intermediate mathematical skills including calculating figures and amounts and units of measure
  5. Effective communication skills with a variety of people
  6. Desire to continue career improvement

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-Time (unless otherwise stated); 12 month (250 day contract); 90 day probationary period; successful completion of State and Federal Background check is required.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Worker II is responsible for the maintenance, service, and repair of school buildings, equipment, and grounds. The duties of the Maintenance Worker II are completed under general supervision and may vary throughout each shift.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Performs a variety of maintenance activities (including preventative maintenance) that require the ability to inspect, repair, fabricate, install, service, and maintain building facilities and equipment.
  • Completes written documentation (maintenance logs, repair status, daily updates etc.) to ensure accurate record keeping and compliance.
  • Performs a variety of carpentry duties such as new construction, remodeling, fabrication, and assembly.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, and diagrams.
  • Oversees inventory of parts, tools, and equipment and maintains proper quantities and general functionality.
  • Responds to calls (including emergency calls) to troubleshoot and make recommendations for appropriate actions.
  • Performs a variety of plumbing repairs/maintenance/inspection on interior and exterior plumbing fixtures and equipment.
  • Delivers tools and equipment between locations.
  • May be asked to work inside or outside in varying climate conditions.
  • Reports signs of damage, vandalism, or any unsafe condition to appropriate staff/leaders.
  • All other duties as assigned.

TITLE: Maintenance Worker III

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent
  2. Experience: 7+ years experience
  3. Certification in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or related specialty required for placement on Maintenance III w/ certification placement schedule
  4. Advanced knowledge of tools, equipment, and maintenance/repair
  5. Advanced mathematical skills including calculating figures and amounts and units of measure
  6. Effective communication skills with a variety of people
  7. Desire to continue career improvement
