ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES: EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE IN THE CONSTRUCTION AND INSTALLATION OF MUNICIPAL PUBLIC WATER
SUPPLY WELLS AND INDUSTRIAL WATER WELLS.

  • Drilling experience requires 3 to 5 years of knowledge as a driller operating and setting up drilling equipment.
  • Requires extensive knowledge in the construction of large diameter water wells, well casings, and drilling boreholes ranging from 12” up to 36”.
  • Experience in straight mud rotary and reverse air drilling, and percussion.
  • Ability to operate a trailer-mounted Kelly drill rig w/air clutches, 18” table.
  • Monitor drilling operations, check gauges and listen to equipment to assess drilling conditions and to determine the need to adjust drilling or alter equipment. Feel cable to brake to determine changes in rock formation being penetrated or variations in drilling process.
  • Assembles drilling tools, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Verify depths alignment of boring positions. Select and attach drill bits and drill rods, adding more rods as hole depths increase, and changing drill bits, as needed.
  • Records drilling progress and records geological data and maintains and keeps daily project reports.
  • Skill in performing routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Coordinates with project owners, engineers, and other team members working on job site
  • Keeps in active communication with Supervisor and other crew members to coordinate work and provide updates on work in progress and tracks crew members daily time reporting.
  • Assists with special projects and performs other duties, as assigned.
  • Percussion, cutting and welding experience preferred.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, regulations, instruction manuals, and specifications
  • Skill in controlling operations of equipment or systems.
  • Skill in performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Ability to operate tools, drills, machines, and gauges quickly, repeatedly, steadily, and in coordination
  • Ability to lift and carry and lift heavy tools and supplies
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding position.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • May required occasional travel out of town work

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience and knowledge preferred with at least 3 to 5+ years of experience working in the water well industry field.
  • Possess an Approved Class A CDL or Class B License.
  • Knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing work processing, spreadsheets for reports and time reports.
