Job Summary:

The Bar Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operation behind the bar while ensuring guest satisfaction and adherence to established standards. The Bar Supervisor will be ensuring the standards are met as well as those of the hotel brand. This is a tipped position, a hybrid bartending and supervisory role.

Essential Functions:

  • Attends to customer complaints, resolving matters with customer satisfaction in mind.
  • Oversees the dining areas and food storage, ensuring that the facility remains in compliance with safety regulations and health codes.
  • Participates in recruiting, hiring, training, and of disciplining staff members.
  • Participates in scheduling and coordinating breaks for hourly associates.
  • Maintains and updates records of certifications as required by local, state, or federal laws.
  • Ensures the safety and security of hotel premises and property while acting as MOD.
  • Ensures the timely opening and closing of the outlets.
  • Enforces all company policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Makes rounds to patrons to ensure that their dining experience is satisfactory.
  • May assist in preparing the tip report for payroll.
  • May assist in operational activities such as serving guests or clearing tables, as needed.
  • Performs related duties as requested by a manager at any time.

Education, Experience and Skill Requirements:

  • Two to three years of prior restaurant experience in a hotel or high-end restaurant.
  • At least 6 months previous restaurant supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required, college degree in Hospitality preferred.
  • Food and beverage, cash handling, and customer service experience required.
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation and handling regulations.
  • Must be positive, energetic and a strong leader.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Qualifications:

  • Requires the ability to lift and/or move up to 40 lbs.
  • Requires the ability to bend, twist, and stand to perform normal job functions.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to interact positively with supervisor, management, coworkers, members, and the public to promote a team effort and maintain a positive and professional approach.
  • Ability to produce a high volume of work in a timely manner, which is accurate, complete, and of high quality.
  • Ability to work long hours, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to operate, maintain, clean kitchen equipment. Ability to life/carry loads of up to 50lb.

Working Conditions & Physical Effort:

Physical work is a primary part of the job. Work is normally performed in an interior hotel environment with equipment and machines. The work involves exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, dirt, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. The exposure to hazards or physical risks requires following basic safety precautions and use of applicable protective equipment. Physical requirements include extended standing and walking, climbing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, kneeling and lifting up to 30 pounds frequently; 150 pounds up to two times per shift, with assistance. While performing job duties, the Ambassador is required to speak, listen and write. The job requires close vision with or without corrective lenses.

  • Walk and stands during entire shift.
  • Lift and carry racks or stacks of dishes, glassware and other utensils, weighing up to 30 lbs., up to 50 times per shift
  • Lift and empty trash cans weighing up to 150 lbs., with assistance, up to two times per shift.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pushing and lifting.
  • Work indoors 80%; outdoors 20%.
  • Work in a hot, damp environment.
  • Hazards include, but are not limited to, cuts from broken glass and metal cans, burns, slipping and tripping.
  • Frequent washing of hands.
