Job DescriptionVerdex Construction is looking for an Assistant Estimator to join our Estimating team to assist us in our mission of "Building Something Better”.
Job Summary:
An Assistant Estimator supports the estimating team in preparing accurate and competitive bids for various projects.
Essential Functions:
- Analyzes requirement documents, floor plans, drawings, specifications, and project plans to gain a thorough understanding of the project
- Determines what factors of production will influence the cost of the floor installation
- Prepares material and labor estimates for the floor installation
- Develops and maintaining relationships with contractors, architects, and other estimators
- Generates bids for contractors
- Uses bid data to prepare detailed cost analysis
- Presents prepared estimates to management
- Maintains an accurate, current database cost codes of accounts for historical data.
- Review Company projects and estimates to confirm accuracy of estimate.
- Utilize the appropriate company and industry historical data for pricing estimates.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational symposia; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies, etc.
- Satisfactory completion of appropriate corporate training as related to the position and/or department.
- Contributes to overall achievement by accomplishing related tasks and demonstrating characteristics that exemplify team building and support.

Requirements & Qualifications:
- 1-3 years relevant experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Education:
Preferred four (4) year degree in a construction related curriculum or equivalent field experience. Experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
