Job Title: Pediatrician
Reports To: Practice Administrator
JOB SUMMARY
A licensed Pediatrician can examine and treat little patients and help in preventing diseases and illness complications. The work of a physician can be both difficult and demanding, and even more so when it comes to children. A pediatrician will have to conduct examinations by earning the trust and cooperation of the child.
The ideal candidate will possess thorough knowledge of children’s diseases and epidemiology as well as the established examination procedures for infants. A pediatrician must be patient and caring and able to foster long-term trust relationships with the children and their parents.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary duties and responsibilities of this position include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Conduct regular thorough examinations on newborns and young children to check and record their
health and normal physical development.
· Examine sick children to determine their condition and ask intuitive questions to gather information.
about symptoms.
· Reach an informed diagnosis based on scientific knowledge and individual medical history.
· Prescribe medications and give detailed instructions for administration.
· Prescribe and interpret appropriate lab tests to gain more information for possible infections or
abnormalities.
· Prepare and administer vaccines according to the governmental vaccination plan.
· Examine and treat injuries and refer the pediatric patients to physicians of other disciplines when.
necessary (e.g. surgeons, ophthalmologists, orthopedists etc.)
· Advise parents on children’s diet, exercise and disease preventive measures.
· Keep updated records of patients’ illnesses, surgeries or other medical episodes (allergic shocks,
injuries etc.)
Keep abreast of advancements in pediatrics and best practices by attending seminars and conferences.
· Works collaboratively with other members of the team to provide examination and treatment of pediatric patients.
· Prepares and reviews reports, claims, and correspondence. Ensures that records and documentation are in compliance with Federal and State regulations.
· The ability to finalize patient charts within 72 hours.
· Ability to see patients within 15 to 30 minutes of scheduled appointment.
· Displays dignity and respect to everyone – co-workers, patients, vendors and visitors. This includes respectful interactions with others; refraining from abusive language or other disrespectful behaviors; and a commitment to work in a collaborative environment.
· Provides excellent customer service to patients and employees.
· Delivers compassionate care to patients and their families.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
The Pediatrician supervises the activities of other staff to ensure tasks are completed promptly and patients receive the best care possible.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduate of an accredited Medical School program and Residency required.
ECFMG is required if schooling outside of US.
QUALIFICATIONS

· Active Certification by the American Board of Pediatrics
· Eligible to sit for Boards.
· Pass the boards within 5 years of graduating.
· Medical Degree with specialization in pediatrics
· Valid license to practice medicine.
· Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
· Nursery privileges at Bayfront to see newborns.
· To abide by the Bylaws and Rules & Regulations of Bayfront Health when privileged for Nursery.
· In depth knowledge of children epidemiology and infectious diseases
· Exquisite knowledge of diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitation principles and techniques.
· Up to speed knowledge of drugs/medications appropriate for children and their side-effects.
· Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
· Active listener, patient and calm.
· Ability to understand, navigate and learn company’s EMR as well as experience with MS Windows, Microsoft Office 360
· Ability to delegate and make sound clinical judgments with patient safety as a top priority.
· Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
· Exceptional attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
· Knowledge of related OHSA and CLIA guidelines and requirements, general office tasks,
confidentiality etc.
