Job Description

Our client is a reputable construction firm dedicated to delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget. They are seeking a Staff Accountant with comprehensive full-cycle accounting experience and a strong background in supporting both workers' compensation and year-end audits. The ideal candidate will play a key role in managing accounting operations and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee full-cycle accounting processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger maintenance, and month-end/year-end closings.
Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Assist in workers' compensation audits by:
- Gathering and organizing payroll records, employee classifications, and job descriptions.
- Ensuring accurate reporting of payroll, including overtime payments, to reflect true risk exposure.
- Providing certificates of insurance for subcontractors and verifying their coverage status.
- Responding promptly to auditor inquiries and supplying additional documentation as required.
Support year-end audits by:
- Preparing audit schedules and reconciling year-end balances.
- Gathering supporting documentation for financial statements and tax filings.
- Collaborating with external auditors to address inquiries and ensure timely completion of the audit process.
Reconcile bank statements, vendor accounts, and other general ledger accounts regularly.
Help monitor and report on project costs, ensuring alignment with budgets and identifying variances.
Collaborate with project managers and other departments to provide financial insights and support informed decision-making.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2+ years of accounting experience, preferably within the construction industry.
Proven full-cycle accounting experience, including month-end and year-end close processes.
Experience assisting with workers' compensation and year-end audits, including preparation and review of necessary documentation.
