AFWERX (AFRL/RG) seeks to hire a senior-level DR/DO-04, Principal Engineer or Acquisition Program Management Specialist, to serve as the Chief Strategy Officer for AFWERX & SpaceWERX.
Position Duties:
Advises on strategy development and implementation, plans and programs, and customer engagement.
Assesses the effectiveness of current and future strategies, planning, and customer engagement processes on matters relating to planning and cost, schedule and performance issues of AFWERX & SpaceWERX programs/projects.
Develops, improves, and implements processes, policies, practices, systems, tools, and training across AFWERX.
Ensures that best practices from the public and private sectors are incorporated to align to and meet the intent of the AFWERX & SpaceWERX missions.
Evaluates the performance of AFWERX & SpaceWERX initiatives and utilizes metrics to continually improve cost projections, performance objectives, and schedule milestones of future efforts.
Builds/sustains effective working relationships with Department of Defense, Department of the Air Force, Command and Center Leadership as well as local/state/federal elected officials and other academic/civic leadership.
2024 Pay Range: $129,356 - $162,672 base salary without locality. The locality will be determined based on the selected candidate's location. 2025 pay range will be determined at time of hire.
While the position location is at the Pentagon, VA, the position is eligible for remote work within the continental United States. No relocation is required nor will it be provided.
Telework: Yes, this position is eligible for telework opportunities; as determined by agency policy.
Remote Work (CONUS): Yes, this position is approved for remote work and duty location can be negotiated after selection.

Required Qualifications:
US Citizenship
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade DR/DO-03/GS-14 or equivalent in other pay systems. Experience gained in non-federal positions will also be reviewed for specialized experience. The specialized experience should be evident within resume.
Specialized experience is experience with advising on strategy development and implementation at the directorate/senior level, and/or evaluating the performance of organizational initiatives. Use of metrics to drive change and impact should be evident in experience.
Engineering applicants must possess a bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited academic institution, or a combination of engineering education and experience.
This position has been designated as a Non-Critical Acquisition Position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). The incumbent must meet or be capable of achieving acquisition certification within the allowed grace period. Applicants must list all completed APDP certifications on their resume.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent will be subject to random testing.
The incumbent will be subject to OGE 450 filing (confidential financial disclosure).
Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
