Job title: Port Services Analyst
Location: Doral/ Miami area
Contract: 6-month assignment
The Port Services Analyst role provides operations support to the Port & Nautical Operations Department in all areas of Port Cost Management. Performing analytical duties related to the port agency/stevedoring budget planning, financial tracking and reporting, verifying invoice rates and service according to audit and compliance guidelines, contract/bid agreements, forecasts, projections and historical data. Provides general analytical support and leads special projects.
Essential Functions:
- Perform competitive analysis and ensure all port expenses are accurate related to the port agency, stevedoring and global port partners annual financial budget, including monthly forecast.
- Analyze results of data extractions, summarizing and presenting analytical findings and Identifying opportunities to improve financial savings. This includes validation.
- Assist in conducting review and gap analysis regarding actual expenses compared with the financial plan; utilizing tracking tools as needed (e.g. MXP-Marine Exchange Software). Provide month-end support to FP&R Department Port Finance Manager.
- Review MXP Level 1 invoice and process all port invoices, account disbursements, wire transfers and direct payments with all port agents, port authorities and port partners or vendors.
- Maintain and monitor Global Port Tariffs and contracted port rates. Ensure proper planning and timely execution of updates to port tariffs and expenses related to any changes in voyage deployment.
- Actively leads special projects and other assignments (such as Cap-Ex Projects & Opex Forecast & Analysis); providing support and working closely with key departments or divisions to accomplish operations goals and optimize savings.
- SME and lead trainer for Port Cost Management Software Marine Exchange Program (MXP). Ensure that accounting data, system processes, internal control procedures, invoicing, auditing and compliance guidelines meet standards and business goals.
Education & Qualifications:
- Bachelors in business, finance, accounting or related field. MBA preferred.
- 3+ years Port Operations experience with 2+ years of progressive experience in Finance, Accounting, or other analytical position.
- Proficient in Microsoft suite, Port Cost Management Model Marine Exchange Program (MXP), Working knowledge of Excel to calculate advanced formulas, Pivot Tables, and VLookup.
- Must be detail-oriented and possess great communication, planning, organizational, and critical thinking skills. Must be able to multitask and work in a fast-paced high demand environment. Excellent interpersonal skills in order to effectively interface with all levels of personnel throughout the organization and with external agents.
- Ability to work onsite in Doral if needed.
- Comfortable working a temporary position.
This role pays $30 an hour, paid every Friday.
